The Bergen Cathedral, built in the 12th century and renovated from 1880 to 1883, is a beautiful church standing over 60 meters tall and 20 meters wide. When the cathedral required roof renovation, Ramirent was tasked with providing scaffolding and roof-over-roof solutions.
Ramirent is one of Norway’s largest total providers of scaffolding and roof-over-roof systems. Besides Norway, they operate in eight other countries, employ 3,000 people, and boast one of Europe’s largest rental equipment fleets.
Solideq was involved in the project from the outset, facing significant challenges regarding the cathedral roof’s structure. The roof had considerable width and two different angles, with limited anchoring possibilities necessitating several freestanding scaffolds. Such a solution wouldn’t withstand the external and internal forces acting on the structure. This challenge was adeptly resolved by Solideq’s engineers. In the video above, we elaborate on how
"It was uncertain if we could execute the roof-over-roof solution, but with good collaboration and Solideq's solutions, we managed it."
